It can also be pretty embarrassing to have to take off your smelly shoes around other people.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not actually sweat that makes your feet smell, but the bacteria on your skin that feed off of moisture.
If you can control these bacteria, your feet will be squeaky clean and fresh-smelling.
These soaks feel great after a long day on your feet.
There’s nothing better than a little pampering mixed into problem-solving!

  • 8 cups of warm water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • A large bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
  1. Place baking soda in your foot basin and add cover approximately with water.

  4. Dry completely.

4. Very Vinegar Soak

Some people may find that vinegar is smelly on it’s own, but it actually does a great job of getting rid of odor.
It creates an acidic environment that bacteria have a hard time surviving in, which kills off unpleasant smells.

  • 5-8 cups of warm water
  • A large bowl or bucket to soak your feet in
  1. Fill a foot basin with water, add vinegar and mix.
  2. Submerge your feet and soak for 15 minutes twice a day.

Here’s Where Your Body Fat Goes When You Lose Weight (You’ll Be Surprised!)

Many dietitians and personal trainers believe that when you burn fat during a workout, that fat is being used up as fuel for energy or heat.
But where does the by-product or waste of this metabolic reaction go?
As it turns out, when your body breaks up the molecules that make up your fat cells in your body, the existing atoms don’t just cease to exist.

What Are Canker Sores?

Unlike cold sores, canker sores don’t occur on the surface of your lips and they aren’t contagious.
Most canker sores are round or oval with a white or yellow center and a red border. They form inside your mouth — on or under your tongue, inside your cheeks or lips, at the base of your gums, or on your soft palate. (source)
There are two types of canker sores (1):
  1. Simple canker sores that appear 3-4 times a year and last up to a week. They typically occur childhood and adolescence.
  2. Complex canker sores which are reoccurring and somewhat unpredictable.
Common triggers include (2,3):
  • Food triggers : acidic foods, coffee, chocolate or spicy foods
  • Stress : Emotional stress and hormonal imbalance.
  • Injury : biting your tongue or cheek,or injury from brushing or flossing
  • Smoking : Canker sores may appear even years after you quit.
  • Nutritional deficiency : including vitamin B-12, zinc, folate (folic acid) or iron.
Most canker sores are harmless and go away on their own. However, you should call your dentist or naturopath if you have (4):
  • Unusually large sores.
    • Sores that are spreading.
    • Sores that last 3 weeks or longer.
    • Intolerable pain despite avoiding trigger foods and taking over-the-counter pain medication.
    • Difficulty drinking enough fluids.
    • A high fever with the appearance of the canker sores.
Here’s a list of 5 effective home remedies to heal canker sores faster:

1. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile’s active compound, bisabolol, is traditionally used to treat inflammations of the skin and mucous membranes, and for various bacterial infections of the skin, oral cavity and gums (5).
To use, sip on chamomile tea before bed or apply a high quality organic tea bag directly on the sore in the morning.

2. Honey

Honey has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial compounds that help speed along the healing of surface wounds and ulcers (6).
Simply take a teaspoon of raw organic honey before bed and after every meal.

3. Salt Water

Salt will kill any bad bacteria that’s festering in your ulcer. In the morning, mix 1 teaspoon of Himalayan saltinto 1 cup of warm water. Swish it around for 30 seconds, then spit it out. Repeat after every meal.
In the evening, drink warm lemon water about 2 hours before bed. You canker sore should be nearly vanished by the time you wake up.

4. Aloe

In addition to its anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera contains amino acids and B1, B2, B6 and C vitamins, which help promote healing and reduces pain (7).
Using fresh aloe gel, make a mouth rinse by diluting a teaspoon of the gel into a cup of water. Swish it around your mouth for two minutes and do not rinse.
You can also use a cotton swab to apply aloe gel directly unto the canker sore. Leave it on for 1 to 2 minutes and repeat 4-5 times a day until fully healed.

5. Yogurt

Yogurt containing active acidophilus cultures can be beneficial and immensely effective in prevention and cure of stubborn cold sores, even those unresponsive to conventional treatment (8).

Bonus Tip : Change Your Toothpaste

Toothpastes that contain sodium lauryl sulfate are known to cause cancer sores in some people (2). Instead, opt for an all-natural toothpaste or make your own.

New Study: Parent Technology Use Linked To Child Behavior Problems

For many parents, the amount of time they spend on screens seems immaterial - after all, when they spend time with their kids, their kids should know they're loved. A new study, though, suggests that when it comes to screen time, that may not be enough.

In particular, technoference - the term for interference caused by technology, such as parents' screens - can damage children's development and growth. In fact, it may take very little screen time to result in behavioral problems for parents' children.

The results come for a study out of Illinois State University, where lead researcher Brandon McDanielsurveyed 170 American families. Most families had more than one child, and parents were, on median, in their early thirties.

McDaniel's results showed technoference increased behavior problems in children. The problems included acting out, turning inward with feelings, exhibiting aggressive behavior, or crying spells.

Technoference, McDaniel says, may occur during face-to-face conversations or routines such as mealtimes or play and can make children feel like an intrusion has occurred when a parent interacts with digital technology during time together. The study shows it takes just a small amount of interference for a child exhibit behavior problems.

On average, mothers and fathers perceived that two devices interfered with interactions with their child at least once a day. Almost half of the families reported techoference 3 or more times a day. Mothers perceived their phone use as being more problematic than fathers, but both mothers and fathers associated interference with greater behavior problems and more child screen time.

And the study results may have been more severe had they been more closely monitored - as currently constructed, the study relied entirely on what parents self-reported, both in terms of technology use and child behavior.

“We need to critically examine our device use. This is just the day and age that we live in. These devices are designed to absorb our attention,” McDaniel said“Yes, you’re going to be distracted sometimes, but we need to try to minimize those distractions, realizing that your children are not always going to be little.”

In other words, children see technoference as a statement, by their parents, that technology is more important than they are. Technology breaks the attachment between parent and child.

Is that really the message you want to be sending to your child?

This Is What Happens To Your Body After Drinking 1 Cup of Coffee

Few can resist a cup of java in the morning. Here's a breakdown of what happens to your body from 10 minutes to 6 hours after drinking the brewed beverage.

The rich and robust flavor of coffee is what compels many people to drink it on the daily; that, and the boost of energy obtained from its caffeine content. But have you ever pondered what exactly happens to your body after consuming a cup of the brewed beverage?

Conflicting studies abound on the pros and cons of drinking coffee. Does it tax the adrenals and increase cortisol (stress hormone)? Or does it reduce appetite and improve focus? Is it beneficial for diabetics? Or does it raise blood sugar and contribute to weight gain?
If you’re conflicted on whether or not you should consume the drink, you’re not alone.

Fortunately, some new research has surfaced that hints at the benefits of drinking the beverage. Obviously, consuming coffee in excess is not good for the body; but a cup now and again may actually offer some benefits.

Following is a breakdown of what happens to your body from 10 minutes to 6 hours after drinking coffee, courtesy of David Wolfe:

10 Minutes

Shortly after your first sip, caffeine from the beverage enters your bloodstream. This causes a spike in heart rate, blood pressure, and energy. Intriguingly, this effect is most pronounced in men, according to researchers at the University of Barcelona.

20 Minutes

Twenty minutes after drinking coffee, you’re likely feeling pretty good. This is because caffeine begins to affect your adenosine levels. The neurotransmitter is responsible for telling your body when it’s time for bed; caffeine binds to the brain’s adenosine receptors and shuts them off. That’s why drinking coffee before bedtime is not a good idea. You’ll be up until the wee hours of the morning.

Another effect of caffeine binding to adenosine receptors is that it allows the brain’s stimulants, dopamine and glutamine, to release their neurotransmitters. This is why after twenty minutes, you tend to feel very perky and awake.

30 Minutes

It’s been a half an hour since you consumed your coffee. At this point, your body has begun producing adrenaline, which further increases your energy production. An effect of an increase in adrenaline is that your air passage will dilate and blood flow will increase to muscles.

It’s for this reason that athletes tend to consume coffee as a pre-workout aid; it helps them perform better in the gym and focus harder on the workouts they engage in.

40 Minutes

It’s been ten minutes since the body began producing adrenaline. Now, one’s mood will become elevated because the brain becomes more sensitive to serotonin – a neurotransmitter responsible for mood regulation.

An individual who does not define themselves as a morning person usually perks up after consuming their morning cup of java, and this is why.

60 Minutes

One hour after consuming a cup of coffee, there should be a noticeable difference in anxiety levels. According to Dr. Owen Bain, this is because caffeine continues to further increase one’s dopamine levels, resulting in feelings of contentment. In today’s busy world, no wonder so many people are addicted to coffee!

3 Hours

Approximately three hours after drinking a cup of coffee, one will notice that their levels of energy tend to diminish. This is because the effect caffeine was causing is beginning to wane. Says Dr. Baine:

“This is because the caffeine in coffee doesn’t actually make you more energetic, it just makes you less able to feel that you’re tired.”

Indeed, the effect caffeine has on the body can be likened to the effect a whip has on a racehorse. Caffeine increases adrenaline levels, which propels the body to work faster and be more focused; but as is the case with the racehorse, it doesn’t actually create more energy, it just induces a reaction.

6 Hours

Though you may no longer feel the effects of drinking coffee six hours after doing so, your body hasn’t stopped processing it. Reportedly, caffeine begins to act as a diuretic at this point, encouraging the kidneys to produce urine and remove toxins from the body.

Because coffee is an acidic beverage, one would do well to consume more water – specifically structured and alkaline – when they drink coffee during the day. This will prevent one from becoming dehydrated.

You Want To Quit Smoking? Use This Herb And It Will Destroy Your Desire For Nicotine

Smoking is a detrimental habit but this does not prevent people from smoking. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance which makes people crave for it, and the more they smoke, the more they need it.

When smokers do not take nicotine, they feel great discomfort, which is a manifestation of the withdrawal phase. The physical symptoms will stop in a week, but the cravings need more time.

Yet, a recent German study showed that Stevia can be of great help in the avoidance of alcohol and cigarettes. This plant is a member of the chrysanthemum family and is native to Paraguay. It has been used as a sweetener for long. Stevia inhibits the cravings and the signals the brain sends.

Therefore, if you are struggling to give up smoking, you should start consuming a few drops of Stevia daily.

When you experience a craving stroke, drop them directly on the tongue, and they will fight the cravings right away. Stevia can be used in the form of liquid and powder, and you can purchase it from healthy food stores, and supermarkets.

Stevia is highly beneficial in the case of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. It nourishes the skin and tightens it, treats acne, and fights dermatitis.

You Want To Quit Smoking? Use This Herb And It Will Destroy Your Desire For Nicotine

This is how to grow it at home:

It cannot survive in freezing conditions as it likes warm temperatures and the sun. Its root survives in zones 9 and warmer and might grow again in spring.

If well protected, it can also survive in zone 8. Plant the Stevia in 12-inch containers, with high-quality soil. Place them to be exposed to direct sunlight and water it when the soil is dry.

Leave the plant to have a space of 18 inches, in a well-drained, loamy, and loose soil. It might reach a height of 1-3 feet. Plant it after the end of the frost, and use nice compost.

To prevent drying, use mulch in the summer. Do not use soggy soil, and make sure it has a good drainage. Note that the roots are rotten or attacked by insects if the plant wilts.

Trim off the flowers in fall, as it blooms then, in order to stimulate the growth of new leaves. The flowers are white, and to help the plant release more leaves, clip off the blooms. On the other hand, the leaves are the sweetest in autumn, before it starts blooming.

When the leaves are plucked, dry them to be able to use them longer. Cut off the stems, and eliminate the leaves and tender stems. Scatter it on woven fabric or some non-metal surface, and dry the leaves in the sun.

This process lasts for a day, and you should then collect them and place them in a container. Crush the leaves and make a powder.

Pour the powder into airtight containers, and add it to your foods and drinks to sweeten them.

Helicobacter pylorus (H. pylori) is a type of asymptomatic bacterium that causes infection in the stomach. It affects about two-thirds of the world’s population and may be transmitted by unclean food and water. If left untreated, it can cause peptic ulcers and even stomach cancer. Without proper medicinal examination, these bacteria are hard to detect.

How do you know?
H. pylori can produce various symptoms and the most common include burping, bloating, heartburn, esophageal reflux, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence and upper and mid-stomach discomfort. People generally mistake these symptoms for normal body manifestations.
H. pylori is the main reason for gastritis – an inflammation of the stomach lining. Gastritis accounts for 90% of duodenal ulcers and around 80% of gastric ulcers. H. Pylori can also trigger a number of other conditions that are not directly linked to digestion, such as cardiovascular issue, headaches and Raynaud’s sickness, which is impaired circulation in the hands and feet.
This bacterium can decrease serotonin levels in the brain thus triggering depression and nervousness.
It can happen to anyone, including you
The bacteria thrive mainly in the stomach lining and are believed to be transmitted by eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated with human fecal material, or possibly through contact with the stool, vomit, or saliva of an infected person. Exposure to family members with H. pylori seems to be the most likely opportunity for transmission.
It’s advisable to check the conditions of any restaurant you go to.
What can you do about it?
  1. Pylori can be successfully treated in more than 80% of cases. Consult your doctor to get the appropriate therapy. Treatment usually involves a combination of antibiotics and drugs to reduce the amount of stomach acid produced, and these are taken for several weeks. Maintaining a proper dietary regime and plenty of vitamins A, C and E, along with zinc, is essential in order to protect your stomach lining. Taking probiotics such as lactobacillus and bifidobacterium is also advisable.
Last, but not least, is maintaining proper hygiene like washing your hands frequently and properly. Drinking water from safe sources is also very important.

In case you feel at risk of becoming infected with H. Pylori, contact your specialist to get an appropriate examination. You can never be too cautious with issues of this kind as they can also influence your social and work life, apart from your overall health.
